May
11 - Capriglia Irpina. The view of Summonte from Capriglia Irpina. Capriglia Irpina
was a small village with a brand new piazza with a beautiful view across the valley.
Within less than a minute of arriving we were approached by an older gentleman,
who turned out to be the retired mayor, and treated to an espresso in the local
bar and lots of information about the town. He recommended we try to find accommodations
at the Agriturismo La Serenella nearby, which we did. It was full (a group of
visiting Swedish restaurateurs and a wine merchant who were scoping out the local
vini) but the very nice folks who ran it allowed us to pitch our tents on the
grounds. (Actually, we think this precipitated a bit of an argument between the
husband and wife, but all was smoothed over when Kris explained about her great-grandmother.)
