17 - the Val Sinni. Eventually we climbed away from the valley, and, somewhat
to my dismay had to ride through a tunnel. We tried to avoid it, but after a little
fruitless riding around a village (to the amusement of the old men hanging out
in front of the local bar, who waved every time we came by) we realized it was
the only way to get where we needed to be without climbing a mountain. Fortunately
the tunnel was not too long and there was hardly any traffic here, far away from
tourist destinations. We ended up going through quite a few tunnels in the next
few days.
